About
Sungmin is a furniture maker and occasional sculptor, deeply intrigued by the interplay between organic and geometric forms in his work. He primarily uses wood as his medium, crafting pieces that evoke the subtle elegance of traditional Korean aesthetics.
Sungmin’s goal is to infuse his designs with a distinctly Korean essence, merging cultural heritage with contemporary sensibilities.
He believes that furniture is the form of art closest to human beings. Furniture not only has intimate contact with the human body but is also a vital aesthetic consideration for daily life.
For him, furniture is not only a practical object but a form of art that engages closely with the human body. It occupies a unique space in daily life, balancing functionality with beauty. In his creative process, Sungmin carefully considers the degree of simplicity or complexity required for each design.
By exploring both ends of this spectrum, he arrives at a harmonious balance that defines his work. Some pieces embrace simplicity, while others exhibit greater complexity, all reflecting his ability to find a thoughtful equilibrium in each creation.
